How do you use Becoming Moonlight ‘white henna’ with other colors of Gilding Powder?

Mica gilding powders, Becoming Moonlight® Gilding Powders or Mehron Precious Gems powders, work well with both Pros-Aide Cream Adhesive or Becoming Moonlight® ‘white henna’ Gilding  Paste.

A neck, chest, face, back, belly, arms and shaved legs are ideal places for application.  If you apply ‘white henna’ to hairy skin, removal will feel like pulling a band-aid off hairy skin.

To apply this body art, begin by cleaning the person’s skin so the ‘white henna’ paste will stick well, and the gilding powder will stick where you do not want it to.

A neck, chest, face, back, belly, arms and shaved legs are ideal places for application. If you apply Becoming Moonlight Body® Gilding Paste to hairy skin, removal will be as difficult as getting bubble gum out of a cocker spaniel’s ear. To apply this body art, begin by cleaning the person’s skin, or the gilding powder will stick where you do not want it to.

Do not apply Pros-Aide Cream Adhesive or Becoming Moonlight Body® Gilding Paste onto a person who is allergic to band-aids, adhesives, or acrylic. These products do not contain latex, but some people are allergic to acrylic medical adhesives.

Clip a tiny bit from the tip. If you clip too much, you’ll waste your cone.

Clip the smallest bit off the tip that will squeeze out a tiny line of paste.

Test your line. Use a smaller line of Becoming Moonlight® Gilding Paste than you would henna paste. Thin lines dry quickly. Heavier lines dry more slowly. Glitter and other powders will fatten up your lines, so start thin

Apply ‘white henna’ paste to the skin, just as you would apply henna, but with thinner lines. If your lines are thin, they will be dry enough to apply gilding powder in about ten minutes.

Pros-Aide Adhesive will become transparent and flat when it dries, but Becoming Moonlight® Gilding Paste paste will still be white and raised.

Wait a few minutes and brush gilding powder over the pattern.

Brush very lightly to spread the gilding powder exactly where you want it to go. Brush away the excess with a soft brush.

If the bristles of your brush stick to the ‘white henna’ line, wait a few more minutes until the paste dries.  If the adhesive paste gets stuck in your brush bristles, rinse it out with 91% isopropyl alcohol, then let the brush dry.

Do you want to add another, clearly separate color?  Apply more lines of Becoming Moonlight® Gilding Paste, wait until they are dry.  Then, and apply another color of  Becoming Moonlight® Gilding Powder.

Then, brush away the excess with a soft brush.

Do you want a design with additional colors? You can continue applying as much complexity as you wish.

If you can sprinkle in more colors; the colors will blend together.

Brush away the excess with a soft brush.

If the weather is very humid, or if you are perspiring, excess powder may cling to the skin. You can rinse this powder off with water, or wipe it away with a moistened cloth.

Wait twenty minutes for the paste to dry before washing.

You can put loose clothing on over this body art after half an hour.

You can shower, and the art will not come off!

This body art will last between three and ten days, depending on how well you take care of your art. You can remove a pattern quickly by rubbing it with the sticky side of scotch tape!

If you get a sticky blob on the tip of your cone while you work, clean the tip with an alcohol prep pad.

One cone of Becoming Moonlight® Gilding Paste will make more patterns than a cone of henna; you are using thinner lines, and you can keep using your cone for weeks until it’s all empty. It will not spoil as does henna.

When you’re done, clean the tip and put a tab of tape back on the tip. Your paste will last for months with no refrigeration and no freezing.
